Motor Cities Gruppe Annual Dinner Socializer at Leon & Lulu

Hello Friends, I have made arrangements for our annual dinner socializer at Leon & Lulu on Saturday February 16th, 2019. The events starts at 5 PM sharp!!!!

.

This years event will be entirely catered and served at Three Cats Café, located in the old Clawson Theater building at 116 W 14 Mile Rd, Clawson, MI 48017 which is directly next door to Leon & Lulu. The event will be completely funded by the Gruppe. We ask that you bring no food or drinks to the event since the Three Cats Cafe has a full Food and Liquor license and bringing food and drinks is not allowed.

.

The menu includes beef tenderloin,  roasted salmon, salad, vegetable, au-gratin potatoes and desserts.  CASH bar.

.

The purpose of having the 356 Motor Cities Gruppe fund this event is to pay back those of us who have worked many volunteer hours over the years to put on successful events including the 4 Holidays we have hosted.

.

Please save this date on your calendars, and an RSVP is a must!  Please be considerate as I will have to know exactly how many to prepare food for. We are excited and grateful to provide this event to our 356 friends. Please RSVP HERE to Barbara!

           Brazilian cheese bread

           Dill cream cheese  and cucumber on pumpernickel rounds

           Dates w/gorgonzola serrano ham

           Petite hand pies: turkey, ham and steak

           Cheese and fruit tray w/cured meats and nuts

           Skewered Caprese

           Dressed Seasonally prepared field greens

           Poached salmon with dill sauce

           Rosemary garlic  beef tenderloin with horseradish aioli

           Roasted root vegetables

           Au gratin potatoes

           Fresh rolls and herbed butter

          Cookies such as caramel apple, cranberry walnut and

          Mini cupcakes, lemon or blueberry bar

Greetings Gruppe Members!

 

Your Board of Directors has done it again. This year’s Holiday Party is being held at the beautiful Birmingham Athletic Club, pictures can be seen at the bottom of this post.

.

The dinner will be served with the following food stations:

  • Roasted Prime Rib with the proper condiments, roasted Salmon with sauce, smashed red skin potatoes. 
  • Risotto Station with your choice of additions, mushroom  mélange, parmesan cheese, sun dried tomatoes, asparagus, artichoke hearts.
  •  House Salad will be served at the table with a choice of their house dressings.
  •  Ice cream sundae bar, and fresh chocolate cookies.
  • Cash bar

We will have the room from 3 pm to 7 pm.  Please arrive on time or you will miss out on the hot Hors d’oeuvres!

Because of the change in venue, we ask that reservations be made and that payment for dinner be made in advance so as to let all Gruppe members enjoy the party.  The cost to you is $50 per person–the actual cost of the dinner per person is greater than $50 and is being subsidized by your club!

.

There are two payment methods offered. You can mail a check to Barb Skirmants or you can pay by credit card to Barb through 356 Enterprises and Barb will write a check to the Gruppe (Any credit card payments will have 4% added to cover credit card charges to the Skirmants’ account).

Shades of Pink Foundation fundraiser at the Detroit Zoo

Hello friends, its that time of year again, to remember our lady friends who are no longer with us. Vic and I sponsored six “In Memory of” signs that will be placed in front of the Welcome tent at the Zoo. The date is April 29, 7 am. Please consider joining our 356MCG2017 team that Harry Kurrie set up for us while Vic and I were racing in FL.

Motor Cities Gruppe Annual Pot Luck Dinner

Hello friends,  I secured the date of February 11, 2017 for our annual pot luck at Leon & Lulu, starts at 5 pm sharp.

 The Clawson Theater

This years pot luck will take place at their new venue next door, The Clawson Theater.  Park on the West side of the Theater building, enter via the side entrance.  This new venue is a lunch room café and tea room.  It has seating and room for all our dishes with plenty of shopping on hand also.

2015 PIB Road Races Reunion To Feature Two Days of Racing On Improved and Expanded Racing Surface

The 7th annual Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion — Monday, August 31 – Wednesday, September 2, 2015 — will feature an expanded race program this year with racing at the historic Put-in-Bay airport on two days rather than one, as in the past. 

Much more than just a vintage race, the Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion (PIBRRR) also welcomes owner-drivers of non-racing vintage sports cars of all types to come and participate in various events and activities.  Featured marques this year include MG and Turner, with healthy turnouts of both types of cars expected as the PIBRRR is featured on the 2015 “Featured events calendar” of the MG Vintage Racers and is once again the official venue for the annual USA Turner Reunion.

Jack Woehrle, race director of the event since the founding of PIBRRR in 2009, says he is excited not only to be able to expand the amount of track time for the racers but to also offer a significantly upgraded racing surface thanks to recent repaving and an added taxiway. “Besides the airport upgrades, we are also very fortunate that the entire Put-in-Bay community has embraced this event and are making things happen that will help ensure its continued success in the future as well as add to the enjoyment for all participants,” said Woehrle.

Beginning with a small event in 2009, the Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion celebrates sports car races that were held at Put-in-Bay on Ohio’s South Bass Island from 1952 to 1959 and in 1963. The steadily growing, three-day reunion engages participants in an event that reaches back in time to capture the history and re-create the atmosphere of sports car racing of that era in a uniquely beautiful setting. So wrapped around a day and a half of small-bore sports car racing at the island’s airport is a balanced mix of events honoring the island’s racing history, a few social gatherings, a car show, original course and airport-track touring, rocker cover races and plenty of unstructured time as well. 

Put-in-Bay is a nostalgic island enclave and a short ferry ride off the shore of Lake Erie near Sandusky, Ohio. A summer resort community little changed from the ‘50s, it is one of the very few places in North America where post-war sports cars raced through towns and countryside on public roads and where those roads exist today virtually unchanged.

PIBRRR 2015 Provisional Overall Event Schedule:

Sunday, August 30 – Registration opens. Welcome party.

Monday, August 31 – Morning focuses on PIB Road Races History featuring historic PIB racing presentations and guests. In the afternoon on-your-own island touring is available for all while racing orientation and practice sessions commence at the airport after lunch, followed by late afternoon laps of the original course.  Hangar party follows racing and original course tour.

Tuesday, August 26 – Race Day 2 at the Put-in-Bay airport! Featuring several classes of race cars and track touring for non-race participants. Racing awards party following.

Wednesday, August 27 – Car Show Day, followed by farewell luncheon and car show awards presentation including presentation of The Paul Henry Award.
