Life in the Motor Cities Gruppe

Carroll Thomson Service Information

December 16, 2014
spg356

Dear Gruppe Members, John (Jason) Thomson Jr. just sent me this note:

Sebastian—

Carroll passed away peacefully tonight (December 15th 2014) at Angela Hospice in Livonia, at the age of 72.  Carroll was a very early member of 356 Registry (Vic would have to confirm if they were charter members); I’m sure they were charter members of MCG.  Carroll did all kinds of things in life, but relevant to the group, she completed Waterford driving school in the Speedster, did timing and scoring and crew duties for years, and owned the 1961 Karmann Coupe (happily still in the family) and a C Coupe (hopefully happy in someone else’s family…).
Visitation and services information is below.

2014 Gruppe Holiday Party as Seen by Vic Rivera thru his iPhone

December 15, 2014

This year’s Holiday Party, held at Genitti’s in Northville, was a terrific change of pace from the big room at Canterbury Village that has hosted the party for years. It was cozy, for sure, but the room allowed us to do what we do best, and that is to socialize!

Vic Rivera had a neat iPhone grip for taking pictures from neat angles, including selfies. This is an example of what he was using to give you some perspective if you were not there.

Thanks so much Vic for taking the following pictures!

Sher Toburen

December 4, 2014
spg356

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Sher Toburen on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014. Sher, and her husband Bill “Toby” Toburen, were long time Gruppe members who graciously hosted several events and driving tours. Sher’s cooking, especially her baking, wowed us non-stop over the years. She was a true enthusiast and a beautiful person inside and out, we will miss her terribly. I spoke to Bill that night and he is holding up well, he is just thankful that she is no longer suffering.
